The Storefronts That Left City Center Bishop Ranch This Year, and What Took Their Place

October 15, 2026

In 2026, City Center Bishop Ranch lost a candy shop, a steakhouse and two long-running boutiques. In their place came a Turkish restaurant with a jazz stage, a taqueria, a sweets counter, a one-year athletic pop-up and a bigger party room at the escape-room venue. Together, those changes show a plaza adding more businesses that run on a calendar, with seatings, sessions and weekly dates, at the same time its owner is clearing nearby office land for housing.

That pattern matters this fall. The holiday season at City Center opens on Friday, November 6, and nearly everything on the calendar between now and January runs through the new lineup.

The ledger for 2026

Here is the year's turnover in order, based on local news reports and City Center's own directory. Some of these dates mark when a change was announced or reported rather than when it happened, and the table labels which is which.

Timing Change What it was
Reported closed March 25 Miette Patisserie Candy and pastry shop
Soft-opened April 30 Meyhouse Turkish restaurant and jazz club
Reported closed by late May Nike Athletic retail
Announced to start in June Lululemon, in the former Nike space One-year pop-up
Last service June 22 LB Steak Steakhouse
Opened late July Rico Rico Taco Taqueria
Announced for summer Lil Sweet Treat Sweets shop
Closure reported August 26 M by Maggie Rizer and Trader Boutiques

The Bay Area Telegraph reported on March 25 that Miette had closed for good after a closure notice went up that week. LB Steak's San Ramon location closed in June when its hospitality group shut all of its restaurants, DanvilleSanRamon.com reported. In late August, SFGATE reported that City Center confirmed M by Maggie Rizer and Trader had closed after nearly eight years at the center, without giving a final day.

Escapology also announced a 1,390-square-foot party-space expansion next to its existing escape rooms, though no opening date has been given. City Center's directory now lists Face Reality Acne Clinic and The Maker Atelier as well.

What the arrivals have in common

Meyhouse makes the clearest case. It soft-opened Thursday, April 30, began lunch service May 2 and scheduled its first jazz performances for May 8, according to DanvilleSanRamon.com. By October, City Center's event calendar was listing Meyhouse Jazz nights as separate events. Each runs 5 to 10 p.m. with seatings at 5 and 8 p.m. The plaza now promotes those seatings on the same calendar as its holiday events.

The others follow a similar logic. The East Bay Times described Rico Rico Taco as a spot built around handmade tortillas and carved al pastor when it opened in late July. Lil Sweet Treat, announced for summer, now posts daily hours in the center's directory. Lululemon came in on a one-year term, which turns the former Nike space into a trial run. Patch reported the pop-up in late May with a start planned for the following month.

The restaurant base held up well enough for City Center to run its Taste of City Center restaurant week from September 18 to 27, ending with September Sips on the 27th. Meyhouse took part alongside longer-standing tenants Slanted Door, Alora Social and Bamboo Sushi.

The calendar that runs through it

The rest of 2026 follows the same pattern. Most of what's coming is recurring, scheduled or booked by session.

  1. Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The San Ramon Farmers Market is listed for October 17, 24 and 31, with live music.
  2. Friday, October 16, and Saturday, October 17. Meyhouse Jazz, with seatings at 5 and 8 p.m.
  3. Sunday, October 25. The free Howl-O-Ween pet parade runs from 2 to 3 p.m. A separate Haunted Hub activity runs from 1 to 5 p.m.
  4. Friday, November 6, at 6 p.m. The Kristi Yamaguchi Holiday Ice Rink opening ceremony, with skating performances, carolers and Yamaguchi cutting the ribbon herself.
  5. Friday, November 20, 6 to 7 p.m. The Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony, with the Monte Vista Band, a group of singers and Santa's arrival.
  6. Weekends from November 21 to December 20. Visits with Santa in Alexander Square on November 21–22, November 27–29, December 5–6, December 12–13 and December 19–20.

A family that comes for the tree lighting on November 20 lands in the middle of the rink season, steps from a restaurant that sells seatings, a day before Santa's first weekend.

The rink this season, and what isn't posted yet

City Center's official event page confirms two dates for 2026–27: the November 6 opening ceremony and a final day of January 3. As of October 12, the rink's ticketing page showed no upcoming events. That means this season's session times and prices haven't been published.

Last season gives a reference point, but it isn't a promise for this year. For 2025–26, Patch reported 90-minute sessions at $22 for ages 3 and up with skate rental included, a $90 season pass, and $10 admission on select Tuesdays. Sessions started at 1, 3, 5 and 7 p.m., with an added 11 a.m. session Friday through Sunday and 9 p.m. sessions on Fridays and Saturdays. DanvilleSanRamon.com reported that last year's rink ran daily from November 7 to January 4, closing only on Thanksgiving and Christmas. This year's announced season is one day earlier on both ends.

The rink also supports Kristi Yamaguchi's Always Dream Foundation, which helps children from low-income families get access to quality books and family-engagement support. The two outlets reported the arrangement differently last season. Patch said all proceeds went to the foundation, while DanvilleSanRamon.com said a portion did. No statement for 2026–27 has been posted yet.

The neighbors who haven't arrived yet

What's changing inside City Center is happening at the same time as a larger change across the 585-acre Bishop Ranch district around it. That district holds about 5 million square feet of office space and 1 million square feet of retail, restaurant and entertainment space. The Mercury News reported in July that developers plan about 8,000 homes there, including condominiums, row houses and apartments.

The first big piece is Canopy. According to the Mercury News, Lennar plans 255 single-family homes near Executive Parkway and Bishop Drive, just east of Interstate 680. To make room, the three office buildings known as BR8 would be demolished. Land-banking company Hearthstone paid $156 million for the 27-acre site, according to documents filed July 2. Lennar plans to build on 25 acres, and Sunset Development, Bishop Ranch's principal owner, is keeping two. The plan includes a five-block linear park through the middle, a community pool, a clubhouse, a children's play area and dog-oriented spaces. A November 2025 DanvilleSanRamon.com report described an earlier version of Canopy as 416 units, which added 161 multifamily units to the single-family homes. The July coverage of the Lennar deal didn't address the difference.

Sunset Development president Alex Mehran Jr. explained the reasoning in a statement quoted by the Mercury News:

"Building the best suburban downtown in America means getting the residential experience right."

The Orchards on the former Chevron Park site is a separate project. Its approved plan covers 92 acres and 2,510 homes across mixed-use, multifamily and neighborhood districts over 20 years. The City Council upheld the Planning Commission's approval on April 7, 2026. Bishop Ranch is still very much an office address, too. In April, Cloud Software Group agreed to lease 55,000 square feet at 2623 Camino Ramon, more than doubling its space, as reported by SiliconValley.com.

None of those homes will be finished in time for this year's rink. But the tenants City Center signed in 2026 fit those future residents better than the shops that left. A jazz room with two nightly seatings, a Saturday market and a skating season make more sense for people who live a short walk away than for a once-a-year gift trip.

If you live near Bishop Ranch and want to know how Canopy and the Orchards could change what your home is worth, the Nivi Das Team can walk you through it with a design and planning lens. Get your home valuation before the rink opens on November 6.
